There were times when sites with no content used to crawl up in google search and users found no results on them. But no instant preview option by google will assist users in giving an advanced preview of the content of the page they are about to visit.  Google has added a new feature to its search results that lets the user see a preview of a web page in thumbnail before opening it.Dubbed Instant Preview, the feature appears as a magnifying glass icon next to search results. The end result would mean users save time by not downloading the wrong page the company said.“In our testing, we’ve found that people who use Instant Previews are about 5 per cent more likely to be satisfied with the results they click,” blogged Raj Krishnan, a Google product manager.

“The previews provide new ways to evaluate search results, making you more likely to find what you’re looking for on the pages you visit.”

The move is going to mean some web sites redesigns, according to Jim Warren, Pay Per Click (PPC) account manager at search marketing agency Greenlight.

“Google ‘Quick View’ could have an interesting impact on PPC,” he said.

“You can be sure a negative reaction to a site layout or colour design of a website in Google ‘Quick View’ would have an effect on online advertisers’ percentage click-through rates (CTRs), something they have not had to worry about in the past.”

“This in turn would also result in a drop in Quality Score and an increase in cost per clicks (CPCs) as a result, not good news for sites with a poor user experience.”

He said that some web pages had relied on getting initial clicks with search engine optimization rather than using better design to entice people to use sites by good design.

However, it could also lead to a rise of copycat pages, which use a similar design to a big name brand to trick internet users into clicking.
