Holika who was a demon and sister of Hiranyakashap. Holika who was blessed with a boon that she will not burn in fire. Prahalad who was the son of Hiranyakashap was the follower of Lord Vishnu which the demon king did not like and asked his sister to kill his son. Holika took Prahalad and sat on fire but Holika was burnt while Prahalad was saved. Since then the followers of God celebrated holi as the festival of colors. Lord Krishna who is said to be the incarnation of Lord Vishnu also played Holi along with Radha who is supposed to be the incarnation of Goddess Laxmi.In modern times people play with natural colors and eat Gujiya etc to celebrate this wonderful festival of colors.
