India’s cheapest Tablet PC has finally found its way on the online market. The Aakash Tablet PC, can be brought from online websites, like flipkart. Datawind who are the developers of the Aakash Tablet PC have put about 30,000 tablets for sale over the internet with a starting cost of about Rs. 2500 each and the Aakash Tablet delivered within 7 days of ordering.
Interested customers, can also pre order the Aakash Tablet’s upgraded version called the UbiSlate 7 which has a cost of about 2999, which is supposed to be launched in early next year in January 2012. The latest technology of Aakash Tablet is filled with features and functionalities. Both the tablet pc’s are available for buying on websites, through cash on delivery and other options.
The Aakash Tablet, has a 7 inch screen with touch features, and a RAM of about 256 MB, the tablet has a ARM 11 processor with Android 2.2 operating system, it has 2 USB posts, and allows users to watch HD quality video. For applications, the Aakash will have access to Getjar, a proprietary market, rather than the Android Market. The developers had in mind that they could provide these tablest to 25000 colleges and 400 universities for e-learning programs. Original projected as a “$35 laptop”, the device will be sold to the Government of India at $50 and will be distributed at a government subsidized price of $35. A commercial version made in China will be marketed as the UbiSlate 7 at a projected price of $60.
