Big Butter Jesus is a statue which is located in Monroe Ohio, infront of a church. The huge statue was designed by Brad Coriel, and sculpted by James Lynch, assembled later by Mark Mitten. The statue was in news at it was said to be struck by lighting on latenight 15th June. It was formerly known as “King of Kings”, but if informally known as “Touchdown Jesus” or “Big Butter Jesus” due to its position.
According to “Wikipedia”, the statue is known by several names informally in the area, “Giant Jesus” (for its size), “8-Ball Jesus”, “Big J”, “Big Butter Jesus” (because of its buttery color), and some other few to mention.The giant statue was set at the head of a baptismal pool with amazing fountains and colorful lights, located on the Interstate-facing side of the church’s outdoor amphitheater. It depicted Jesus from the chest up, with his arms and head raised to the sky. The piece had a 42-foot (13 meters) span between its upraised hands and a 40-foot (12 m) Christian Cross at its base. There were plenty of discussions generated as of the pose of the statue.
The upraised arms familiar to “praise” service attendees conjures different images for locals, who refer to the big Savior as “Touchdown Jesus”. No one was hurt in the blaze when the statue and some surrounding structures were damaged in the fire that followed the lightning strike. It was reported that the statue have been completely destroyed.
