Ghaziabad, India: A five-year-old boy accidentally shot his sister with the revolver of their father in the district, critically injuring the girl, police said on Sunday.
Eight-year-old Samia was critically injured when her brother accidentally pulled the trigger of their father’s licenced revolver while playing with it last night, they said.
The parents were not in the house when the incident occurred, they said, adding the revolver was lying on the table and children picked it up to play with it.
The father, Sudheer Kumar Singh, is an advocate.
Doctors attending Samia said that the condition of the girl is critical and she has been put on a ventilator. “She was operated upon last night as the bullet was in her head. The bullet has damaged the major portion of the brain,” the doctors at Yashoda hospital said.
SSP Ghaziabad, Deepak Ratan said that no information was given to police by the family so the case has not been registered yet. “A case of negligence will be registered against the advocate and his revolver’s license will be cancelled,” he said.
