Patiala House Review starring Akshay Kumar, Anushka Sharma, Rishi Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia, Prem Chopra; Director: Nikhil Advani
Patiala House is the upcoming movie of Akshay Kumar. The story is about a Cricket player who is of Indian origin but wishes to play for England Cricket team. Akshay being a Sikh is diatribed by his father for this. Story revolves around this ambiguity in which Akshay is. The movie stars Rishi Kapoor as Akshay’s (named Gattu in the movie) father. The film narrates the story of a second generation Indian in UK. Rishi Kapoor is a man of strict traditional values, and is against Gattu’s wishes to play for England.
Gattu forgets about his dreams and follows the life, directed by his father. But, life presents a second chance to Gattu after many years.
Gattu has watched his father rule a house, a family, a community for the last 25 years. He has silently tolerated the snide remarks and insults passed by a younger generation. Gattu understands the bitterness of his siblings and identifies with their shattered dreams. The neighborhood boys playing cricket reminds him how his own dreams where left unaccomplished for a job at a corner store.
The movie revolves around how people’s emotions and Indian’s who are living abroad the problems they and their younger generations face. As the film unfolds and both Bapuji and Gattu adapts to the changing social conditions the movie reminds us about the evolving social changes going around us. Also, the story gives the audience an under lying message that life always gives a second chance and a person should never loose heart.
The film reaches it pinnacle when Bapuji let Gattu play cricket for England and an emotionally charged Gattu utilizes the second chance to be included in the team and wins the cricket match.
Anushka Sharma acts in the role of Simran, the love interest of Gattu in the movie. Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy are the handling the music side of the movie. Some of the songs which have already become popular are “Kyun Main Jaagoon” is a soul churning number and good to the ears. Lets hope, the melodrama provides Bollywood with good box-office results.
The movie will see various ups and downs of human emotion and will Akshay be able to fulfill his dreams is something viewers need to find out by watching the movie Patiala House.
The movie earns a 4 star out of 5. Patiala House will be released on 11 February 2011
