Maha Shivratri is a day dedicated to Lord Shiva, this day is devoted to the lord of destruction. He destroys evil. His mantra is Om Namah Shivaya. It is celebrated on 13th 14th night of Maagha or Phagun month in hindu calendar. The day is said to have legend that says, that Devi Parvati who was the wife of lord Shiva prays to ward off evil that might fall on lord in moonless night.
