Game of Thrones, in its 6th season starting next year has reportedly cast Neil Nitin Mukesh in a royal character, the first Indian character to be casted in the famous action series. Greg Powell, the action director of GoT series, was the moving spirit behind this decision to cast him while directing Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, he was so impressed by Mukesh’s stunt sequences and his execution skills that he immediately made the offer while Neil was still working in the movie… And Neil being a big Thrones lover himself, immediately jumped on to the wagon wheel without thinking twice!! A difficult sword fighting sequence in PRDP and the relative ease with which the actor pulled it off without much struggle seems to have worked in his favour in sealing the coveted spot for him.
Let’s hear what Neil had to say : ““Greg has directed two sword fighting sequences in PRDP for which I had to train for over a month in order to get the stance and wrist movements right. He seemed pretty impressed with all the hard work I put in and made the offer when we were shooting for the climax scene a few months ago.”
Interestingly, given that the role may need portrayal of frontal nude scenes, Mukesh Jr. has already accepted to such an eventuality, and has opened up that he’s comfortable as long as it is required for the character and does full justice for his role. Now that Thrones as already a mega blockbuster hot among Indians with crazy mashups and innumerable versions, Neil Ntin Mukesh surely wants to rule the roost now that the winds are on his sail, given that he has been called giving precedence over many bigwigs in the Bollywood.
Twitter was buzz with this story, with many Twitteratti actually picking up his name as the subject for parodying… and subjecting him to memes, some even suggested that Iron Throne contender Daenerys could have named her dragons as Neil, Nitin and Mukesh… Such distaste notwithstanding, Neil has made all of us proud by grabbing a well coveted role in one of the biggest contemporary American TV shows… Neil Nitin himself has some favourites from this hit HBO’s fantasy series – Khaleesi, Jon Snow and the Imp. Based on George RR Martin’s bestseller, the show is characterized by violence, best action sequences and abrupt deaths of protagonists, which keep the plot very unpredictable to the hilt.
