Samsung Galaxy On7 and Micromax Canvas 5 phone reviews

It’s that time of the year again wherein you zero in on the products to be bought this Diwali.. With the festival of lights just a couple of days to go, and smartphones ruling the market with aggressive prices and hot features, buying a smartphone would be the best thing you could buy for yourself or gift to your dear ones. Let’s take some time in analysing and comparing specs of two most awaited smartphones released by Samsung and Micromaxon this Diwali eve – Samsung Galaxy On7 and Micromax Canvas 5.

Samsung is bang on target on aiming its budget smartphone with its Galaxy On series, especially with its Galaxy On7 smartphone. The dual SIM 4G LTE powered headset has a 5.5-inch HD screen, powered by a stunning 13MP primary camera with LED flash alongwith 5MP front camera. The resolution of 720*1280, though sucks at a measly 267 PPI.. Powered by a 3,000mAh battery, the phone also is a tad bulky @ 173 grams and runs on 1.2GHz Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor, which is slightly disappointing, given that Samsung’s peers are offering more attractive options in its price range. The phone is shipped with a 1.5 GB RAM, 8GB ROM, expandable upto 128GB. It’s now ubiquitous Ultra Power Saving and Ultra Data saving modes is featured in the phone. Coming in 2 variants of black and gold, it is exclusively shipped by Flipkart at an attractive price of 10990 INR.

The Indian smartphone maker, Micromax has also burst on the smartphone arena by unleashing its latest Canvas 5 E481. Released a month after Galaxy On7, it has gripped Indian audience due to its sturdy and stylish metal design(much better than Canvas 4) and power packed features at an attractive price.

Powered by a 1.3 GHz MediaTek 6753 Octa-Core processor and 3GB DDR3 RAM, the 5.2 inch device excels on its resolution – 1920*1080 (~423 PPI), at least better than On7. It is packed with an Auto Flash-enabled 13 MP camera and a 5 MP front camera with LED for selfie-lovers.The phone has a special feature named “Picture in Picture”, wherein pictures can be clicked using both front and back cameras simultaneously. The smartphone is 4G enabled with dual SIM support and comes with a 2900 mAh battery. It is shipped with 16 GB ROM, expandable to 64 GB. It is available at an attractive price of 11999 INR.

In the hindsight, comparing the two smartphones would reveal both high points and lacunae for each. Where Samsung excels is the display size (5.5 inches), price (1K cheaper than Canvas 5) but is pushed to the ground when compared on resolution – Canvas 5 has a superior PPI and a stunning RAM capacity for its price range and ships in with more storage, though less on expandable storage, when compared with On7. On the whole, choosing between two is a tough ask, and depends on what the preference the customer wants to have to choose a phone accordingly.
